In many ways it is a misnomer to refer to the current immigration crises as ‘immigration’. The numbers and scope actually reflect a more sinister and serious issue of colonization. In researching some of the issues, I came across a helpful website containing the voting records and ratings of the Texas Congresscritters. Grades on Texas Critters. The chart gives a good overview of how "our" representatives voted on key issues. Just look up your favorite and note how they rated.
In terms of keeping tabs on congresscritters, another useful tool is THOMAS. In using THOMAS, you can enter your critters name and see what they have proposed, what they sponsored and how they voted. A search under mine revealed such wonderful things as praising the NAACP (HR44) (which is giving South Carolina grief on the flag), a motion commending Ann Richards (H.Res 42) (she brought gambling to Texas and was a main mover and shaker to get NAFTA crammed down our throats), raised the minimum wage, changing the name of a post office in Austin, naming the Department of Education building in the imperial city after LBJ, and development of alternative fuels (HR 547). The present push for alternative fuels has turned into nothing more than a government hand out for corn farmers. It has raised the cost of gasoline and has led to a shortage of corn tortillas in some areas that raise corn. This astounds me. My district contains many oil producing areas-so why push for alternative fuels? I guess he knows more than me, so since he knows best and us voters know nothing, or as the government mantra goes..it is for our good. The other mantra is "I am from the government and I am here to help you".
You may wish to try it yourself. Seeing what they have actually done is often a stark contrast from what they publish on their websites or tout in their press releases. Check the facts, follow the money, it is surprising what you can learn.
For example, here is a list of the major contributors:
Nick Lampson (D)
| Grunfeld, Desiderio et al | $16,800 |
| Krist Law Firm | $16,800 |
| Baker Botts LLP | $16,675 |
In checking out the Grunfeld, Desiderio et al., it is a law firm that specialized in international trading. This firm has two offices that it operates in China. This raises questions, why is a group in China, contributing to a candidate in Texas? Could there be a connection between the Chinese offices and the large influence of China at the new Bayport container terminal? Recall that containers are often not searched on entry to the United States. Further research on Bayport reveals they solicited the Attorney General for permission for rent-a-cop police officers to perform duties normally limited to licensed police officers at their facilities. Recent news this week has Congress critters praising Bayport for its state of the art security. (Rent-a-cops performing the duties of licensed law enforcement is state of the art?-Something is rotten in Denmark here).
The third firm is Baker Botts. Who is associated with Baker Botts?-James Baker. Gee, here you have a former international adviser for presidents law firm giving money to a candidate-Is there a hidden agenda here? Why is Baker Botts interested in this Congressional District?
The second firm, Krist is an interesting one. They are a local law firm that has also contributed to the local Samaritan Christian Counseling clinic. Given such altruistic gestures, what would such altruistic people hope to gain by supporting a candidate that has voted against the sanctity of marriage issue? I do not consider it likely that the law firm is in the dark, the lawyers there are too good for that, there is some other agenda in the works here. The double-talk and double-standards are mind boggling.
That is what you can learn from doing some research and internet searches with the information available. I only looked at the first three major contributors, the actual list is much longer and probable contains some other surprises. Try it on your critter, by following the money, it is amazing what you learn.
