The empire is currently filled with many lame policies and ideas. The majority of which focus on subsidizing and underwriting the losers and deadbeats of society. Given that this population were unable to pay their bills, mortgages and health care before, the empire now wants to help them do it again! If they did not fail bad enough before, let’s support them in doing it a second time. The programs are not just a helping hand, they go beyond that. Second chances are good, yet what these policies advocate is rewarding those that have shown irresponsibility. Perhaps the government is wanting to reward its own ineptitude as well.
What will all these policies produce? More people dependent on government. Not only will they be dependent on government, they will support maintaining the status quo. They will vote to keep the people in office who keep them subsidized. The policies have redefined progress. Progress now equates to keeping the losers subsidized. The previous definition of progress was when people were self-sufficient and did not need or depend on government. Now, just the opposite is true.
When Texas was settled, it was not accomplished through government programs. Texas was settled by self-sufficient persons. During the administration of President Houston the cost of maintaining the Texas Rangers was 1/10 of what it turned into when Texas joined the infernal Union. The cost of protecting the border skyrocketed, with worse results. The Union did not protect the borders in 1846, nor are they doing so in 2009, despite the outrageous costs and burden to the taxpayers.
Self-reliance will get Texas through these times better than government subsidies and programs. Look at the cash for clunker program. Here, many good used cars have been destroyed, when instead they could have been used to help truly needy families, provide economic opportunities for mechanics, and used car dealers. Instead of a program that would help more people, the policy helps fewer people, costs more and produced dubious results. Given that 6 out of 10 of the most popular cars that people bought in the program were manufactured by Honda, it did not even help the American car makers as well as it could have. Not only that, if you went to the government website for the program, it took control of your computer and its contents.
Instead of subsidizing the deadbeats, we need self reliance.
Instead of government programs dictating what children need and forcing them into volunteer programs, we need self-reliance.
Instead of government run health care, we need self-reliance.
Instead of the government running our lives, we need self-reliance.
Liberty for Texas and the South!
