The head of the regime spoke at a recent college graduation. In his message, he bemoaned the information age. He stated that “in the iPad and Xbox era, information had become a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy”. His statement is worth considering. Apparently he and his advisers did not anticipate having to deal with people having access to information. Information is power and when the people have power, it interferes with his concept of democracy. His statement is also an admission that the liberal power elites still think the American population are too smart for them to deal with.
Bear in mind that the United States is NOT a democracy. It is a Constitutional Republic. Since he is reportedly a Constitutional scholar, he should know this. Did he not learn that in school or is he trying to turn us into a democracy where there is mob rule. If that is his desire, then his speech bemoaning the loss of means of manipulating the mob makes more sense.
Had he claimed that the present generation had problems with attention, he would have a point. If he said that the generation had more choices than could effectively be dealt with, that would have had some merit. When he talks about them having too much information, he is revealing that they know too much about this man who wants to keep his past a secret. I guess that he does not fully know what the information age and social networking means. He may have a blackberry, but it is clear that his staff does the social networking for him. He knew the power of information in getting himself elected, but apparently that has soured for him since he cannot control the media. He has also not allowed them to have access to him. Everyone will reap what they have sown.
Had he read R.L. Dabney, he would have known that plain increases in knowledge for the sake of cramming in information is of limited use. He commented back then that people were not being taught how to think. They had knowledge, but did not know how to think.
