Lest Darkness Fall

Lest Darkness Fall
Mike Crane

[Editor’s note, written in 1995 the national debt figures and the years of Reconstruction have been edited to bring the article current]

Walking battlefields, can be a very inspiring event. So many thoughts run through your mind. The courage of gallant men, their sacrifices and honour. The impact of the ebb and flow of combat on our current lives. This is particularly true for War of Southern Independence or War of Northern Aggression battlefields. For these battlefields were not only a mortal contest between courageous men, but an intense battle over our form of government and the very foundations of American Liberty.

On a recent trip to the Petersburg battlefield, thoughts were racing through my mind as always. But unlike at other famous battlefields, Manassas, Ft. Sumter, Chickamauga these were dark thoughts, dark and gloomy. On this hallowed ground, I forever settled in my mind, the proper name for this War. This thin Grey Line, was all that stood between the defense of American Liberty and an indefinite period of increasing darkness. On this ground was fought a War of invasion and aggression, northern aggression. When this line crumbled, overrun by literally thousands of invading northerners, sadly began the decline of American Liberty created by Southern Men in 1776. This long thin line of Grey was the last barrier between American Liberty and the darkness that our country and the US have been slipping into ever since.

While walking along Harrison Creek, where the advance from Ft. Stedman stalled in theFt. Stedmen face of overwhelming numbers, my thoughts turned to what we have lost. American Liberty, the very founding principles of the United States were following the advance and retreat of this battle. The results are very sad. When this line of Grey crumpled and began retreating, I am sure sadness was felt by men such as Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason, for their great sacrifices and wisdom was what was at stake. Looking down upon the ebb and tide of this battle, they would have known that their creation, American Liberty, had lost.

Today there are US flags fluttering in the wind, gloating over the blood and defeat of the defenders of American Liberty, our Confederate forefathers. No where to be seen, was even one token Flag in memory of the men who died in their effort to preserve American Liberty for us, their future generations. Mind you, not a single Flag in their honour, not one single Flag in honour of our country. Not a single Flag to remind us of what our forefathers fought for and to show respect.

I am very proud to state that before the end of the day, our Flag of Honour and Distinction was very obvious on the National Park Service Petersburg Battlefield. All around the “Keep Off” signs at Fort Stedman, where one last effort was made against overwhelming odds, flew our Battleflag. Across the very ground tread in the desperate effort to break the line of the invaders of our country, around The Crater, in the homestead of residents burned out in typical yankee style, along the breastworks where our Confederate forefathers gallantly made their stand. Briefly, perhaps very briefly, Confederate Flags greatly outnumbered the US flag. Yes for a brief time our Flag honoured the men who fought for our Liberty. Despite the glares, threats and protests of current day suppressors of American Liberty one gross of 4 inch Flags covered this hallowed ground.

Walking along the march taken in the advance on Fort Stedman, counting the 228 paces, I could not help but wonder what was going through the minds of these men. Surely by this late in the War they were aware of the odds they were facing. They knew they were outnumbered, out gunned. But on they came, pace by pace. Taking Fort Stedman, they marched on, facing even greater numbers, then slowly falling back. The odds had just been too great to overcome. Walking along the Confederate breastworks, where the retreat from Ft. Stedman would have been visible, I could imagine how the soldiers felt standing there, watching the failure of the attempted breakthrough and knowing what it meant.

Leaving the US Park, which so plainly takes better care of the union lines than the Confederate as would be expected of an occupation government, I was eternally grateful for the likes of my Confederate forefathers. Against such odds, during what must have been very dark days they cared enough about their freedom and their future generations to face such a formidable enemy.

Ft. GreggThen following miles of works along the roads of Petersburg, which have been ignored by the Park Service, we came upon one of the finest tributes to the defenders of American Liberty that I have ever seen. Standing alone in a large field, without fancy paths, parking lots or signs to “Keep Off” was Fort Gregg. Here there were no US flags - only Battleflags.

On this ground, a small contingent of Confederates held thousands of invading infidels at bay for two hours allowing Lee to evacuate the army from Petersburg. Imagine being assigned to Fort Gregg, knowing that Lee was retreating and thousands of the invading horde were descending upon you. But those Confederates ignored the terrible odds and stood their ground, very firmly and stubbornly they held their ground. As large numbers of yankees swarmed over the wall, a young artillery corporal manning a piece, stood with lanyard taunt and ready. The yankees yelled, “ Drop the lanyard or we will fire!”. Instantly came the reply, “Fire and be damned!” as he pulled the lanyard. Immediately the remaining “damned” yankees sent this young Southern man to meet his Creator.

And therein lies a wealth of wisdom, for today we face an approaching darkness that is gloomier than the dismal situation these men were in. With Lee’s surrender, the defenders of American Liberty have lost forever the opportunity to defend American Liberty by force-of-arms. The odds that we face today are greater than those at Fort Gregg and their Comrades-In-Arms throughout our War for Independence.

The Men in Grey had the power of still sovereign States behind them, and their State was their country. 143 years of Reconstruction and ever increasing centralised government have reduced the States to mere political subdivisions of the supreme central government, strangely founded upon the principle of “limited government”. On our watch, the states have continued to decline at an ever increasing rate. No longer are the states capable of providing a “check” on the central government.

The Men in Grey, came from a prosperous region, so prosperous that it paid ¾ of all the main source of central government revenue, tariffs. The much more heavily populated region to the north only had the prosperity to pay ¼ and looked upon the wealth of the South with greed. To satisfy this greed the north waged a war of aggression and freely sacrificed large numbers of its citizens to increase its material prosperity. During and in the aftermath of the War the South was pillaged and plundered until it became one of the poorest regions of the planet.

Today the South is again becoming a prosperous region. But this is a type of prosperity that would have been foreign to the defenders of American Liberty. The citizens of the South not only pay close to 50% of their labour in tribute to an out of control government, but despite the allusions of yankee materialistic prosperity have accumulated their unwilling share of almost $13,000,000,000,000.00 of debt to be passed on to our future generations. Our unwilling share of this occupation government debt is over $40,000.00 for each man, woman and child in our country and for our annual tribute and share of debt, we get a decaying society and culture.

In 1776, Southern Men created American Liberty. In 1860 Southern Men defended American Liberty. What will our future generations read in their history books about us?

So many will ask, “But can anything be done?” “When such great men failed, and we have so much less to support our effort to restore American Liberty, what can we possibly do?” A very, very tough question, but one that must be answered if we care as much about our future generations as our forefathers did!

The answer may lie in the wisdom of the young artillery corporal. “Fire and be damned.”

With the destruction of the South, these united States lost the principles upon which they were founded and became the United States, irrevocably changing the form of government. The United States has used 143 years of Reconstruction in their effort to eliminate the commitment of the South to American Liberty. But so far Reconstruction has failed, for the ideas upon which our country and the US were founded have not been forgotten. Although we have much less to work with than our forefathers, the occupation government may have larger problems than we do. Just as Thomas Jefferson predicted, it has become corrupt, Godless and is hopelessly and irrevocably in debt from the greed of the victors. The occupation government is “damned” and sadly it will fall of its own accord.

Let us rebuild our country and without force-of-arms, without great wealth, but with commitment and with the Will of God we can rise above the “damned” as it slides into the darkness which sadly is its destiny.

Let our future generations read that in 1776 Southern Men created American Liberty, in the 1860’s they defended American Liberty and in ???? Southern Men restored American Liberty to its rightful place among the nations of mankind.

Lest Darkness Fall, it is time for Southern Men to stand tall again!

It’s a good day for independence

1 October is a good day for independence. On this day in history, 1960-Nigeria won it’s independence, 1975 the Seychelles gained independence, 1975 The Ellice Islands split (seceded) from Gilbert Islands and took the name Tuvalu gaining its independence, 1979 the United States returned sovereignty of the Panama canal to Panama, 1994 Palau gained independence from the United Nations (trusteeship administered by the United States of America).

Tuvalu is still free from the long arms of the fedgov’s prying financial controls.

So when do we get out independence?

How is it that the empire allows other regions and people’s their independence, but deny ours?

Anniversary of the Battle of Sterling Plantation

Today 29 September is the anniversary of the Battle of Sterling Plantation. In that battle a small force under Texas General Tom Green routed an entire Union division in less than 30 minutes in 1863. If you ever wondered what a small group of Texans with determination could do, the Battle of Sterling Plantation is your answer.

Think about that for a moment. A few understrength Texas regiments stop the advance of a whole Union division and put them on the run in less than 30 minutes with minimal casualties. The power of Texas troops and Texas cavalry can not be mistaken.

Don’t bother looking in your Yankee history books for this one, it won’t be there or it will be downplayed. This is just another example of how historical revisionism has made our children unaware of the heritage they possess.

What made the victory even sweeter was that it was less than a month after the Battle of Sabine Pass. It was another embarrassment for the invading Yankee army.

Liberty also means having free minds and being aware of your heritage.

Flim Flam in Texas

Talk about a flim-flam, (or if you prefer, being two faced), Representative Lloyd Doggett recently attended the Hill Country Water Celebration held at the Salt Lick. He, true to his arrogant form addressed the crowd on water conservation. I wonder if those in attendance remember that he was one of those CONgress Critters who voted for HR 2421, which allows the fedgov to take over control of all the waterways? As a politician, they can be counted on to always have some angle or swindle, (he’s already proposed a 775% increase in tax on pipe tobacco, taken away your light bulbs, forced Obamacare down your throats, honored Ramadan, put your children, grand-children and great-grand children in debt, supported Obama’s youth corps (the Obama Youth Movement) and instituted a sales tax on home sales (as part of Obamacare), and NOW some of the people are willing to let him handle our waterways!

No thank you MR DOGGETT. You have already raised taxes enough, shown utter disrespect for Texas law with your illegal amendment to the school funding, lied about manufactured protests, lied about Medicaid (yes, you said you wouldn’t cut it, until time to vote and then …you cut it). You and your cronies in CONgress (Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, Representative Gene Green, Representative Silvestre Reyes, Representative Shiela Jackson Lee) have betrayed the public trust and fattened yourselves at the public feed trough enough. You can’t handle the responsibilities you have been given, so you should not handle the water ways of Texas. You have already tried to take them over, what makes you think that you can keep them clean? You can’t control the debt, which in the eyes of Congress is an unlimited resource, how can you improve the water situation, which is a limited resource?

His actions are another flim-flam aimed at fooling the people of Texas. Sadly, many believe his lies (and those of his comrades in other socialist policies).

I can see through the flim-flam, and encourage other Texans to see through them as well. He has done more to increase the problem of big centralized government, at the expense of Texas and her citizens. He has fed the monster that is taking away Southern liberties.

What’s Deep in the Heart of Texas?-Cyber Security!

Michael Hayden, the former head of the CIA took the audacious step of saying that the head of the regime should have the power to shut down the internet. I do not recall where in the Constitution, that power is given to the executive to shut down commerce or communication. When the Yankee President John Adams passed the Sedition Acts, which aimed to shut down free speech, it was stopped. Is this head of the regime any smarter or wiser than Adams? Given that there is debate about whether or not he is eligible to serve, it is not likely that his is smarter or wiser than John Adams.

The real irony of these statements is that they came from San Antonio, where he was meeting with military and civilian officials to discuss the matter. Why San Antonio you may ask? The NSA has its cryptology center located there on West Military Drive near Loop 410. Even the construction of the facility has been shrouded in secrecy, with everything being done behind barbed wire fences and under heavy security. San Antonio is second only to the Imperial City in terms of Information Security. With the importance of San Antonio, the military industrial complex there has a vested interest in internet type issues.

The comments could be a trial balloon or early warning of some black flag computer goings on.

In a free South, there would be free speech, there would be a respect of Constitutional limitations on power, there would be eligibility requirements which are enforced.

Another brick in the wall

The head of the Obama regime announced that he supports longer school years. He wants the schools to ‘improve’. It is not bad enough that his “Organizing for America” program is in the schools, which does nothing more than indoctrinate students into a ‘groupthink’ mindset. This is in addition to the usual cast of characters doing their indoctrination in the schools presenting immoral lifestyles as ‘acceptable practice, along with every group having their own history month or history day. A longer school year only means a longer time to indoctrinate. A longer period of control.

The massive outpouring in the tea party has alerted the regime to the fact that not enough people have been indoctrinated in their way of thinking to have a critical mass. This is similar to the New Harmony experiment when a socialist commune was set up by followers of Robert Owen. When the commune failed, they blamed it on the education system and the people’s Biblical values. In the aftermath came the push for ’secular’ public education, which sought to eradicate those concerns.

Once again, the socialist agenda is upon us. Since it has not worked the way they wanted, now the regime wants MORE of your money and LONGER time with your children. This amounts to another attempt at using the same failed strategy. It is my hope that you are not one of those parents who allows your child to participate in the government indoctrination centers. The latest education policy amounts to “another brick in the wall” as Pink Floyd would have put it.

In order to have a free Texas and a free South, we need free minds.

Some Texans have backbone

It was encouraging to see the Texas school board stand up to the Mohammedean putsch and refuse to accept the bias toward Islam (bias! More like people are kowtowing!). Unlike the head of the regime who kowtows and bows to Islamic thugs like CAIR, the board stood its ground. It is encouraging to see officials take stands, unlike Lloyd Doggett and his Democratic cohort who only want to raise taxes, take away our light bulbs, cram Obamacare down our throats, and put us in debt even deeper. Doggett is especially evil, given his underhanded attempts at circumventing the authority of the people of Texas with his amendment that allows the feds to dictate funding and school policy.

We need more elected officials like the school board who are willing to stand up for the people and values of Texas.

Feds force person to give up their identity!

The empire certainly has it’s audacity. In the latest hubris from the empire, the FBI insisted that a Seattle based artist renounce her identity and go into hiding due to her involvement in the draw a picture of Mohammed day involvement. It seems that some hotheaded Mohammedeans in Yemen were threatening her life and the FBI intervened to ‘protect her’. Bear in mind that something is dreadfully wrong when the empire cannot protect a citizen living in the empire from some hotheads in Yemen. Her ridicule of the Mohammedean worshipers seems to have ignited some reactions.

Bear in mind that it is often government buildings that are attacked by terrorists, not private residences. They can not protect their own property, what makes you think they can protect a single citizen living stateside? The episode raises questions about how much they can actually protect us and how much freedom of speech we actually have.

For Southrons, this is just another abuse of the empire in manhandling its subjects. In a free South, the people would not be asked to change their identities just because some hotheads do not like their cartoons or can’t take a joke. Although the empire is not under Sharia law, such actions make one wonder if such a change is creating an atmosphere where the people are subjected to Sharia law by threat.

So who is to blame for the mess?

I often dread reading the daily news. The bad news often elevates my blood pressure for one reason or another. I am often astounded at the block-headed decisions coming out of the imperial city and the CONgress.

The latest is that Edward DeMarco, the acting director for the Federal Housing Finance Agency now wants the banks to share the burden of the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac debacle, claiming they had a hand in it. Bear in mind that the Obama administration hired the CEO of Fannie Mae as an adviser, and that in 2004, when the Republicans demanded oversight of the agencies, the democrats claimed that they were over-reacting and that no problem existed.

The mess gets even worse when you look at the connection between Countrywide and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, and that Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac contributed heavily to democrats in the last election. When you follow the money, it does not look good.

Here in Texas, we have the Lloyd Doggett amendment (poison pill) which has effectively cut education funding for Texas schools. In an effort to make Perry and the State of Texas government look bad, he has effectively reduced funding. Doggett can claim that he tried to get the funds so that the foolish government indoctrination centers tutors can be happy with him although the truth is he put so many strings on it, that the funding was cut. It concerns me that so many school teachers blindly follow the CONgress critter from the 25th Congressional District so blindly.

It is also telling that in the debacle of CONgress Critter Eddie Bernice Johnson, that efforts are being made to sweep away the nepotism regarding scholarship awards that went to her family members. In an impromptu press conference in Dallas, she was supported by many ministers. I just have to wonder what kind of gospel is presented in those churches. It was bad enough that she made herself look bad, now her actions are dragging down the reputation of others who are selling their good names for some porridge.

What does this have to do with Southron issues? Plenty! These events show that Texas is filled with political hacks rather than statesmen. We do not have people who stand on principle, but rather who is paying them off with either contributions or money.

We need a return to principles. We need a return to morality. There was a day when an office holder would step down out of honor, rather than have pastors make excuses for them. There was a time when people accepted responsibility for their choices, rather than blame it on others and make other pay for it. In each of these cases, democrats have avoided assuming responsibility for their actions. Each of them hurt Texas. Each of them will cost Texas. We, as Texians have to share the blame for allowing such rabble to hold office. We have a responsibility to see to it that they do not return to office.

The mosque and the flag

An recent article in the Times and Democrat raises some salient points that are important for Southrons. With all the talk about toleration and support for the Mohammedeans to construct their mosque, where was all this toleration when South Carolina wanted to fly the Confederate flag atop the State house?

The liberal establishment is full of double standards. Toleration is only extended to favored groups. They do not live it. If they were sincere, they would tolerate, understand and accept the South. They would accept our symbols, and our culture.

I have also been amazed at the rewrite of American history on the matter. There is now talk that America was founded on religious toleration (it wasn’t) rather than the old term ‘religious freedom’. People forget that religious freedom meant that the government would not interfere with religious matters. Religion was none of the government’s business. Religious freedom also meant that people were free to address religious matters in public. Religious politicians were allowed to express their views. Laws had a moral foundation with Biblical roots.

The religion people practiced often spoke out on moral issues. It was not ‘love’ and ‘toleration’, it was what was right and what was wrong. The people and the leaders were not afraid to take stands.

Where is the infamous Yankee liberal ‘toleration’ when it comes to the Confederate flag? It is not there. The Yankee establishment clearly has a double standard. They do not play fair, they never have and never will. We can not expect them to do the right thing, because they do not have a good understanding of what is right and what is wrong.
