175th Anniversary of San Jacinto

Texians!

Here we are on the 175th Anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. Although in the culture of Texas, this was a day of celebration and happiness, over the years, the celebration has been downplayed, while that of Cinco de Mayo has been promoted. There is something terribly wrong with that. It seems that is is more politically correct to celebrate the victory of a Texas-born Mexican leader’s victory over the French than to celebrate the Texian victory over the Mexican army. The priorities have been confused to say the least.

The question arises as to whether or not we are better off now compared to Texas in 1836. In 1836, Texas wanted to be free of a non-responsive central government that disregarded the Constitution, imposed law by executive decree, showed religious favoritism, and racial driven policies. Hmmm…175 years later, it seems that that Texas is again having to deal with a non-responsive central government. In Santa Anna’s day, he shut down local representation, the Obama regime on the other hand, just ignores it. The Obama regime and the Santa Anna regime both had religious favorites and oppressed those with opposing beliefs. The Obama and Santa Anna regimes both sought gun control and wanted to disarm those living in Texas. The Obama regime and Santa Anna regime both sought tight control over tobacco. Both the Santa Anna regime and the Obama regime use executive orders to over rule the rights, laws and limitations of the Constitution.

In 1836, the few Texans living in Texas saw the danger, now, 175 years later, few see the danger. The parallels are chilling. We need to honestly appraise the situation. Santa Anna did much less than the Obama regime. The Mexican government did not grope young children in the name of security, nor did Santa Anna promote teaching the presentation of perversion in the classroom as ‘acceptable’. Nor did Santa Anna put the people of Texas in debt for generations.

On this special day we need to remember not only the Alamo, Goliad, and Tampico but also San Jacinto and what the Texians were fighting against. They opposed a tyrant who disregarded the rule of law. Sadly, the Yankees regarded this tyrant as a hero when months later he arrived in Washington City. Those in Washington downplayed his butchery at Goliad and the Alamo. They ignored his ethnic cleansing of Texas. The Yankees and Washington were not our friends then, nor are they now.

When we remember San Jacinto, we need to not only recall the events of that day, but also learn its modern applications.

Regime Head revises history

The head of the Obama regime showed his ignorance of Texas history when he remarked “Texas has always been a pretty Republican state”. I wanted to say “duh?” Do you remember Ann Richards? or how about LBJ? Somehow his Hahvard education did not include Texas history. Texas was a democratic stronghold until…the democrats sold out! It was when they sold out that Phil Gramm, John Connolly and other prominent democrats changed parties. Come to think of it, Rick Perry had been a democrat before as well.

Things changed when Regan was elected. The democratic party that had represented the conservative values of Texas no longer existed. When the democrats kow-towed to the special interests groups, things changed.

The Republicans would not have had a political foothold had the democrats kept their promises. When Governor Alan Shivers bolted from the democrats to the republicans it was due to broken promises. Ike respected the Texas claim to offshore lands, and that helped him win. The republicans did not WIN Texas, the democratic party lost it when they lost their soul to special interests.

Take a peek at the interview and see how ‘Presidential’ the head of the regime behaves.

The System is Broken

In the latest example of how the system is broken beyond repair, Texas CONgress critter Eddie Bernice Johnson is now speaking out for the “Progressive People’s Budget”. This is the same CONgress Critter who was involved in steering scholarships to family members. If she was self-serving in such matters as scholarships, what makes you think that she suddenly became altruistic and cares about the people now?

This same woman wants to steer the budget into la-la land. She wants to continue spending your money (this is on top of her wanting the feds to dictate textbooks in Texas, inspect our homes for energy efficiency, dictate how farms are to be run and other ‘progressive’ ideas.

She wants to vision and planning for the future. She avoids wanting to talk about cutting (which is the problem with CONgress as a whole). She lives in the delusion that the empire can spend its way into progress.

Texas can not afford Eddie Bernice Johnson’s politics. She wants to spend, spend, spend without considering the consequences or where the money is coming from. It was bad enough that the Obama regime has spent money we did not have, now they want MORE. Her plan is to revise the tax code and take money that does not even belong to America since they were monies earned overseas. Her answer is to tax, tax, tax (read that more debt slavery, more debt slavery more debt slavery). Creating more tax slaves is not the way to bring about financial freedom.

We need to scrap the system. The present political system is flawed and broken beyond repair.

The $830 million dollar present

As the politicos discuss the budget deal, one thing that came out of it was the Doggett Amendment which targeted Texas has been done away with. The removal of the Doggett Amendment allows $830 million in funds for schools to be released. It amazed me how the news channels all showed CONgress critter Doggett speaking to teachers groups and being portrayed as a hero in the midst of this self-serving financial crisis, when he set up this freezing of funds in the first place.

I did not see stories about the many school districts needing money that mentioned how Doggett placed the poison pill in his amendment. If anything, Texas schools like Booker T. Washington High School in North Texas is protesting Governor Perry rather than Lloyd Doggett who rigged the federal funds with so many strings it would have been illegal for Texas to have taken it. It is ironic that the photo with the story mentions funding which is the job of the legislature rather than the executive, but I guess those parents went to government schools that do not know which branch of government is responsible for which task. ( I also wonder, why are teachers out protesting when school is in session?). The protesters wanted Perry to be fighting for more money for schools. Why were they not protesting in front of Lloyd Doggett’s office when he intentionally held up the federal monies for Texas? Since he is in the legislature, it is his responsibility to generate funding measures, not a member of the executive. In addressing the funding matter, Texas was the ONLY state that such action was taken against and it was done intentionally by Lloyd Doggett yet no protests were heard (sound of crickets chirping).

Rather than putting the people of his district first and respecting the laws of Texas, he (Doggett) tried to play imperial Congressman and dictate law to the state. in this case, it did not work. It grieved me that so many mainstream media outlets still portray him as ‘working for the teachers’ when his politics were put ahead of the people in terms of his illegal amendment. He still refers to the action of allowing Texas to have the funds as an “unwise concession”, and does not trust the Governor to spend the funds how Mr. Doggett wants him to. (Doggett still wants to control, control, control. As if it is not bad enough that he wants control over out light bulbs, power grids, toilet size and now education. On top of this, he also wants to increase the amount of you money the empire gets and the indebtedness of future generations.)

We need to elect people that represent us, NOT that dictate policies to us (in terms of light bulbs, how we raise our crops, toilet size or other matters). We forget that he is the hired hand, the servant of the people. Scripture is very clear on what happens when a servant rules over the people and it is not a good thing.

I wonder when the people of Texas will wake up, do their homework and see what inclusion in the empire has done for Texas and what we have lost. How many Texas lives have been lost so that CONgress can now tell us what kind of lights we can use, the size of out toilets, dictate what gets morals are taught in schools, forces us to buy their lousy insurance, funds the organized murder of children and refuses allowing public displays of the ten commandments.

Federal Tryanny in New York from Judge Garaufis

Talk about playing god, Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis had the arrogance to assign a juror ‘indefinite jury duty’ after she expressed racial feelings he did not like. He disapproved of her responses on a jury questionnaire where she indicated groups she disliked. When questioned about her responses, she answered honestly and said, that she disliked them because “You always hear about them in the news doing something.”

The judge, who acted more like a tyrant proclaimed, “This is an outrage and so are you!” at hearing the responses he did not approve of. never mind whether or not she was honest in her opinions, the judge took actions to mold and shape her opinion in the direction he wants her to go. The judge, who is a yankee (surprise!) by birth and attitude showed egregious intolerance of honesty in his court, like a tyrant ruling his fiefdom. It is ironic that this is the same judge who intentionally restructured the hiring practices of the New York City Fire Department to meet his preferences. His actions are those of an activist judge who wants his things done his way rather than someone who wants justice and honesty.

Free speech? Hardly. The Constitution apparently is not the law of the land in Judge Garaufis’s court. He does not appreciate honesty either. Instead of respecting the jurors, he sentences them when they do not hold the opinions he wants them to hold.

Judge Garaufis is the perfect illustration of how we need judges who operate by the rule of law rather than by rule of their opinion. He also illustrates the pompous mindset of the empire, which wants to dictate how people live and what their opinions are rather than live and let live.

We need a free South rather than be under the oppressive arbitrary rule of such government stooges. We need liberty in our courts rather than having juries manipulated by the judges and their whims. We need free speech and respect for the rule of law rather than activists who use the courts to bend court cases to fit their own personal agendas.

Were the Anti-Federalists Wrong?

Were the Anti-Federalists Wrong?
Wayne D. Carlson

In the great debates that occurred in each of the 13 Independent Republics, to consider the momentous question of rejection or ratification of the newly proposed Constitution in 1787, there were no small number of great and learned men that vehemently opposed, and warnedGeorge Mason - A Virginia Anti-Federalist against, the adoption of that document. History remembers them as the “Antifederalists”. In Virginia alone, no less than “the trumpet of the Revolution”, Patrick Henry stood opposed. George Mason, who is credited with writing the Virginia Bill of Rights which became the model for the Constitution’s, joined him in opposition. It was Richard Henry Lee that first presented to Congress, in June of 1776, the resolution that the thirteen “United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States.” He too, joined Henry and Mason in principled objection to ratification of the Constitution, as written. As editor Isaac Kramnick states in the introduction to The Federalist Papers, “In state after state, often only a handful of votes separated the pro-Constitution forces and the defeated opponents of the Constitution. In light of the growing centralization and tyranny of the Federal government today, perhaps it is high time we considered some of the arguments of those like Henry who said, “I smell a rat”.
Professor Marshall L. DeRosa, in his 1991 “The Confederate Constitution of 1861:An Inquiry into American Constitutionalism”, notes that the primary objection of those opposing this new Constitution, lay in its ambiguity concerning the “locus”, or place, in which ultimate sovereignty resided. Sovereignty, of course, denotes supreme political authority, which the Antifederalists were anxious to preserve to their States.

Under the first Constitution called “The Articles of Confederation”, there was no question where sovereignty lay. Article II expressly declared, “Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom and independence.” John Adams would write, “No one thought of consolidating this vast continent under one national government.” Indeed, each State had separate cultural, institutional, and religious traditions. Their unity had only been limited to their common connection to Britain and their common struggle to free themselves from her growing threats to their liberties. These “rebel patriots” were united in the belief that liberty could only flourish when government power was restrained. Yet, by 1787, most agreed that the Articles of Confederation needed revising so that the powers of the central government could be enlarged to deal with problems that were not being addressed under the current system.

Richard Henry Lee - Virginia Anti-FederalistThe transfer of power from the States to the central government under the proposed Constitution failed to clarify the question of whether the States retained the reserved right to reclaim their sovereign powers in the event the people felt it in their best interests to do so. It was this ambiguity that prompted the Antifederalists to insist upon the adoption of a “Bill of Rights”. The 10th Amendment, remember, declares that those powers not expressly delegated to the central government, nor prohibited to the States, were reserved to the States and the people. It seems pretty clear to me that this should have settled the question forever. The centrists and ultra Nationalists, however, chose to ignore this some 70 years later when a new generation of “rebel patriots” arose to throw off the threats to their rights and liberties. In failing, they nonetheless reminded us that a question settled by violence resolves nothing.

In reading the words of the Antifederalists we see that they feared that in seeking to correct the mistake of giving too much power to the State governments, under the Articles of Confederation, the “Federalists” were now making the same mistake by giving too much power to the Federal government. I would argue that history shows them justified in their fear. DeRosa noted that “The Antifederalists were convinced that it had been demonstrated, historically and theoretically, that free republican governments could extend over only a relatively small territory with a homogenous population and even among states this rule was evident, for the largest states were the worst governed.”

M.E. Bradford in “Founding Fathers” identified the pro-Constitution (Federalist) forces as comprising four rather distinct groups. The first group, tending to side with the Antifederalists, felt that with the inclusion of a Bill of Rights there would be nothing to fear from the new government. The second group was motivated by fear. They were willing to trade their liberty for the promise of “security” and “peace”. Shay’s Rebellion in 1786, in Massachusetts, had stirred a fear of social unrest in many. A third group made up of men of power and wealth saw the federal system as a means to enrich themselves further by using the powers of government to subsidize their business interests. They constituted the forerunners of America’s corporate welfare class. Finally, there were what Bradford calls “the everlasting glory” men, who saw for America a “manifest destiny” of commercial, financial, and military power. These were the forerunners of our arrogant, imperialist, and interventionist minions who now seek to extend their power globally.

Typical of the objections the Antifederalists posed would be the following from the Pennsylvania delegation to their States’ ratification convention. “The powers vested in Congress by this constitution, must necessarily annihilate and absorb the legislative, executive, and judicial powers of the several states, and produce from their ruins one consolidated government, which from the nature of things will be an iron-handed despotism.” I leave it to the careful student of history to render judgment upon the accuracy of the Antifederalists fears. Do we even understand the Federal System envisioned by the Founders? Can we distinguish between the Republic Benjamin Franklin claimed we’d established, and what we have become today?

John C. Calhoun of South Carolina, understood by many to be the foremost political thinker and philosopher in American history, clearly stated the question the Federalists were afraid to broach and that we must continue to ask today. Calhoun said, “Stripped of all its covering, the naked question is, whether ours is a federal or a consolidated government; a constitutional or absolute one; a government resting ultimately on the solid basis of sovereignty of the States or on the unrestrained will of a majority; a form of government, as in all other unlimitedness, in which injustice, and violence, and force must finally prevail.”

Participation in and submission to the Constitution was premised on the voluntary consent of the various States’ that ratified it. The founders promised us a government that would protect and preserve the liberties of the people and the prerogatives of the States. If it has now become the means in which they are now threatened, do we not have the moral obligation to insist that it abide by the conditions in the original compact? What remedy were the “rebel patriots” in 1776, and again in 1861, forced to adopt to preserve liberty? Are we any different?

Terry Jones and freedom

Whether or not you approve of Terry Jones burning the Koran, it is his freedom of speech. His actions are throwing light on the double standard at work regarding freedom of speech. I am amazed at how many talking heads are up in arms over the Koran burning, citing that it is a ‘holy’ book, whereas they dismiss burnings of the Bible. It shows the duplicity in their treatment of religion.

The Islamic world would do best to mind their own business rather than meddle in the affairs of others. It is NONE of their business what we do over here, nor is it our business what they do over there. It is appalling that some CONgress critters now want some action taken regarding the Koran burning.

The wacky logic is also seen in how the Obama regime’s spokesman to Afghanistan, Rashan Hussain says that the answer to violence is Islam. Think this through people. Is the answer to violence the sanctioning of a religion that stones women, beheads people, disapproves of alcohol, and dictates how others should live? This is not even getting into the wife beating, pedophilia, self-immolation, and other sick practices it brings.

The empire was silent when the Christians in Turkey were slaughtered. They were silent when Christians were killed in the Balkans and now they want to silence Christians in America?

This kind of foolish thinking is the problem rather than Koran burnings. When the people are agitated, by the empire’s rhetoric and are told that “Islam is the answer”, when they are told this enough, they will believe the lies. Islam is not the answer to violence, it is the cause of it. This is the same wacky mindset that views Islamaphobia (which is made up) is a problem. The claims are not backed up by statistics and it is a media ploy.
